Roofing in Westbury
Different decades, different roofs — none of them more than a few streets from our own front door.
Westbury is where we're based, not a town we drive into. The yard's on Phoenix Rise, five minutes from the Market Place one way and the station the other, so a call about a leak here usually gets looked at the same day rather than fitted in around a run out to Frome or Salisbury. Working from home ground this long also means we already know which streets came off worst in the last blow off the escarpment, and which roofs are due trouble before the tiles start sliding.
The town itself is genuinely mixed. Around the station and through the centre it's Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mostly slate with shared valleys and chimney stacks that want proper lead flashing and repointing, not a smear of mastic. Westbury Leigh and the older streets by the Market Place keep their stone cottages. North and west towards the bypass it's 1960s and 70s estates under concrete interlocking tile, plenty of which are now old enough for nail fatigue to set in and roofs to start slipping tile by tile. Being tucked under the downs, wind damage to ridges and verges is a regular call too.
